The day after an election in the US is and interesting time for all of us, we look for answers about the way things worked out the way they didn’t. For those who voted for the wining candidate we wonder what our vote may have done and hope the person proves to be worthy of our support. For those who voted for the persons who lost we wonder if the person we voted for might have been a better solution. But uniquely we get to see a country transfer power from one person to the next without war or violence. We thankfully don’t know how rare that is in the history of man.
As Christians we must consider the Biblical commentary, “He (God) controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars.” Daniel 2:21.
I’ve often wondered how literally to take this statement. Daniel is speaking of Nebuchadnezzar after the man defeated the people of Israel and captured Daniel himself as a product of that war. I am not certain how I would feel about the dictators of the world, the corrupt and horrible leaders of nations all around the world being chosen by God. I’m not sure how I feel about any person who I voted against being set up by God.
I am sure of one thing. Like a person or not it behooves us to pray for leaders in the world and the church. The jobs of serious leaders are not easy. They are bound to make mistakes even if they are trying to do the right things. A country that does not pray for it’s leaders misses a great chance to see the hand of God work.
If we do not ask we cannot get an answer. Please pray for our church and the leaders of it, and our nation and the leaders of it. Do not fear the future, God already knows what is coming and what we need. He is for us, and He has demonstrated just how serious he is by coming to rescue us by shedding his own blood.
Elections come and go, but God will retake this planet one day and rule it from His throne. God bless you and God bless America.
